The Blind Side 2009 (English)

Every once a while there comes along a movie which makes you look back at your life and feel how selfish we were and how selfish we continue to be.

Well this movie is one of a kind.

Sandra Bullock who starts along with Quinton Aaron and Tim McGraw in this family drama directed by John Lee Hancock is one damm good movie that should not be missed by people who like the genre "family drama" like American Beauty.

Its about how the life African-American homeless student Michael Oher(Quinton Aaron) changes when he meets the Touhy's(Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw) and well-to-do white family who help realize his potential. The Touhy's meets Oher on the street on a cold night and make him stay the night at their couch. Thus begins a relationship so beautifully described that mesmerizes you right to the core. Well a black boy living in a well to do white family is sure to make others comfortable, but he way in which how The Touhy's manage this, that is shown on-screen is beautiful.

The presence of Oher changes the lives of the Touhy's for the better. Meanwhile Oher studies hard and becomes a part of Touhy family, and being a "freakishly large man" tries as an offensive tackle for college (american) football team. The rest is how with the support from his family, Oher becomes an All-American football star.

The sequence where Sandra Bullock tells Quinton Aaron what to do during practice where she tells "This team is your family Michael, protect them" is amazing, so too the scene during the football match when Sandra yells "Yo, deliverance. You see Number74. Well thats my son".

Finally Sandra Bullock performance is superb in this movie. Right in the performance race is Quinton Aaron. Tim McGraw is good. The two kids are amazing.

Overall a very good family story.

Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya 2009 (Tamil)

Ok. Here it goes. I have always had great expectations for this particular movie cause, first of all, the movie had Trisha Krishnan as the lead(And I am a crazy fan of her's), second it had Silambarasan, a.k.a Simbu, who btw changed his name from "Little Super Star" to "Young Super Star" (its good to see him maturing), and most important of all is that this movie is directed by the "greatest story teller" of the current generation Mr.Gautham Vasudev Menon, and boy, he's proved like always that he is the better part of all the film-makers out there.

The movie is aptly tittled as a romantic entertainer, and you could see romance fill the air for the most part of it. Its all about how a guy falls in love with the women of his dreams on their first sight and how that love grows and as usual even-though everyone opposes, how they come out at the other end of the tunnel. But even though story seems bit like the usual, it the way the director imagined and shot each frame that makes him the best.

The movie goes like this. Kartick(Simbu) a 22 year old Hindu tamil guy, who even though studied Mechanical Engineering tires to become a Movie-Director, falls in love with Jesse(Trisha) a 23 year old Christian malayali (beautiful) girl on their first-sight. And from then on till deep in the first half he tries to get the attention of Jesse and tries to make her love him, or in plain words, somehow tries to make his one-side love, you know, both-sided(successful). To make matters worse their is a rude brother to Jesse, and her 6' 3" tall father. Then they fall in love. Jesse's father fixes her marriage. She refuses at the last moment. She falls in love with Kartick. Then she dumps him for no peculiar reason at all(i think the director saw "500 Days of Summer" and got inspired). She disappears. Kartick becomes director. A bit of twist at the climax. And the end credits.

As I already said even though its a simple script its the way the movie goes that mesmerizes the audience. There are some very catchy dialogues and  they way the director portrays kartick's love for Jesse in the screen that makes the people go "aaaaaaaaawe".

As for the performance goes all actors seemed hand-made for the roles in this movie. Trisha as this amazing beautiful sexy malayali girl is simply superb. Simbu was very suttle and seems like the most eligible bachelor in Kollywood. Gautham has once again proven his versitality. And most important of all A.R. Rahman's music has given absolute charm to this wonderful story.

Its a complete fell-good movie and a sure to be big-hit not only in the metros, also in the rest of the state as well.

Saying that what u think is gonna happen if you throw in the most eligible bachelor in town with the the most beautiful girl of kollywood together with some amazing background scores and some of the best songs, and most of all one of the better director. Well sparks are sure to fly.

Finally thanks to cinematographer and director for showing Trisha so beautiful on-screen.
And also thanks to Trisha just being beautiful.
